The Stata Center at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology houses the Departments of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. The building includes five multimedia classrooms and four seminar rooms.
The centerpiece of the project is a 300 seat Lecture Hall. The AV system provides side by side video projection systems for multiple image display, a three channel stereo audio system with subwoofers and surround sound speakers and touch panel controls at both the front of the room and in the projection booth. Four cameras are provided as part a distance learning system that allows communication to other classrooms around the world. This system can be fully automated so that the cameras can follow the instructor without an operator present. The system is also linked to a remote control room on campus via fiber optics that allows a remote technician full control of camera selection and control to provide near broadcast quality production.
A second 90 seat classroom is also outfitted with the same distance learning capabilities and all other class and seminar rooms are outfitted with comprehensive AV systems that include video projection, independent speech reinforcement and program audio systems, ADA hearing assistance and integrated remote control systems.
