Project:

Fremont Street Experience

Location:

Las Vegas, Nevada

Architect:

Jerde Partnership

Spanning 4 city blocks in downtown Las Vegas, the Fremont Street Experience covers the center of downtown with a canopy of over 2 million lights and a 540,000 watt sound system to provide animated light shows every evening.

The sound system consists of 56 separate loudspeaker clusters suspended above the street. Each loudspeaker cluster functions as a fully independent channel fed by a computerized matrix mixer and automated playback system that allows each loudspeaker to be fed a unique audio source.

Audio signals can be mixed and panned through the loudspeakers to create a soundscape that can pan individual sounds though all channels to create, in concert with the animated light show, a sense of movement across the entire downtown area.
